Red Clover has deep roots that help during dry periods and also increase soil nitrogen levels. Red clover makes an excellent short-term forage and or hay crop. It is also a beneficial insect plant with striking crimson nectar rich blooms in early summer.

There are many benefits to using red clover as a cover crop, including nitrogen production, serving as a weed suppressor and a source of forage.
Green manure and weed suppresser: The high biomass production of red clover makes it an excellent green manure and ground cover. Its high biomass and root system also reduces nutrient runoff and soil conditioning.
Nitrogen production: Red clover produces plant available nitrogen for companion plants and following crops
Time: Plant spring through to early autumn.
Rate: Sow approx 4g per m2
