BEAN DWARF SNAP BEAN
$6.20 inc GST
Botanical name: Phaseolus vulgaris
Produces a profusion of relatively small, stringless pods which may be cooked, frozen or whole. The flavour is excellent – a bean we recommend very highly.
Plant Height: 50-60cm
How To Grow:
Sow dwarf snap bean vegetable seeds 25mm deep in dark damp soil & avoid watering for a day or two afterwards. Ensure soil has been well prepared with organic compost & aged animal manure. Sow 10-15cm apart allowing 50-60cm between rows. Ensure the danger of frosts has passed and protect plants from wind. Plant in 1-3m rows and remove weeds regularly. Keep the roots cool – a mulch of garden compost will help considerably. Water well in dry periods.
Additional fertiliser is not required a legumes produce their own nitrogen.
Regular harvesting will result in prolonged yields.
When To Plant: Spring and Summer; autumn too in warmer zones
Harvest: 8-10 weeks
Sow: Spring, Summer
Important Note: During periods of hot & humid weather; use a fine mist spray on flowers to assist with flower & pod set.
